Originally born over ten generations ago in a feudal area of Intaki space, Otto von Thyssen entered into a family of wealth and good heritage. He was schooled early on in all matters of education, and was found to have a high ability in the sciences. He took first to mining, industry and trading, but soon found that, in space, it is better to be on the firing side of weapons: he lost his family in an attack by Caldari raiders. At the age of 23, he inherited his title and lands from his father and became the Lord Baron Thyssen (LT).

After the union of the Intaki Empire into Gallente society, such feudal property was outlawed. The majority of the Thyssen estate had to be sold and actually LT was relieved: the duties of running a small city weren't to his liking although he had handled it well.
