Unlike the average Tube Child, Octomus was raised by heterosexual parents who only dabbled in the homosexual experience while the other was out on business. This led to much ridicule when growing up, often called freak by the other tube children. This just led Octomus to work harder and prove to his peers that he truely had what it took to be a capsuleer, even growing up in such an abstract environment. It took him longer than average how to drive a stick shift Ibus, since his father was so inexperienced with rod-like periferals, but with much persistance, he soon prevailed (with a little help from his mother) and graduated in the top 86 percent of his class.
